The Public Service Alliance of Canada offered 24 scholarships in 2026 to PSAC members and their dependent children, awarded for an original essay or creative submission.

How to Apply

Open to PSAC members in good standing and to the dependent children (under 26) of PSAC members in good standing as of March 31, 2026; a member in good standing has up-to-date union dues and a signed PSAC membership card. Fourteen scholarships are for dependent children of current members attending full-time studies at a recognized post-secondary institution in fall 2026; three are for members registered in full-time studies and two for members registered in part-time studies in fall 2026; and five are for members or dependents of members who self-identify as a woman, Indigenous, a person with a disability, racialized or 2SLGBTQIA+. The program is not limited to first-year students, but anyone who has won a scholarship through this program in the past will not be awarded another.

Apply through PSAC's online application form with an original 750- to 850-word essay in Word format, or an original video, infographic, song or other creative submission of no more than five minutes, answering the 2026 scholarship questions. Videos and audio files must be submitted with a transcript, either captioned in the video or attached as a Word document. Cite the sources you consult. AI tools may be used only as a learning aid to help revise and edit: the initial draft must be entirely your own original work, any new ideas or content the AI introduces must be clearly cited as AI-generated, and failing to acknowledge AI contributions may result in disqualification. If you belong to one of the five equity groups, indicate it on the application form. You need your own or your parent's PSAC ID number and component or directly chartered local. Applications are not accepted by email, fax or printed copy unless you are unable to apply through the portal. Applicants recommended to the final stage provide proof of registration at a recognized post-secondary institution and a social insurance number. All submissions become the property of PSAC, and winning submissions may be posted on the PSAC website or in other communications with the authors' names and the scholarships they received. The 2026 deadline was June 22, 2026 at 11:55 p.m. ET.
